Fondateur et directeur artistique de l\u2019Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, il explore dans ce concert un r\u00e9pertoire dont il est un sp\u00e9cialiste mondialement reconnu. S\u2019y rencontrent deux compositeurs qui v\u00e9curent \u00e0 la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode. Les harmonies divines de Jean-S\u00e9bastien Bach r\u00e9pondent ainsi au brio visionnaire de Jean-F\u00e9ry Rebel (dont Le Cahos est divis\u00e9 en sept parties \u00e9voquant les sept jours de la Cr\u00e9ation). Apr\u00e8s cette incursion dans l\u2019Europe baroque, le chef n\u00e9erlandais passe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge classique avec la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre <em>Symphonie n\u00b098 <\/em>de Haydn. Sa partition, \u0153uvre inclassable, est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de fragments de morceaux de Beethoven. <em><br>Phantasy <\/em>est une \u0153uvre de jeunesse de Britten, il la compose \u00e0 dix-huit ans alors qu\u2019il est encore \u00e9tudiant au Royal College of Music de Londres. Elle prend sa source dans un quintette \u00e0 cordes \u00e9crit peu de temps auparavant, pi\u00e8ce qui avait remport\u00e9 un concours de musique de chambre dont l\u2019une des r\u00e8gles sp\u00e9cifiait que la forme des \u0153uvres devait rappeler la Fantaisie du XVI<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, soit un seul mouvement. Ce qui a plu dans le <em>Quintette pour piano et cordes en fa mineur<\/em> de C\u00e9sar Franck est aussi ce qu\u2019on a reproch\u00e9 \u00e0 son auteur&nbsp;: une composition architectur\u00e9e, ample et dramatique. Il ouvre pourtant la voie \u00e0 une esth\u00e9tique nouvelle.
